Angel Hernandez, Violin

Angel Hernandez Dominguez was born in Cuba, where he began his studies on the violin at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana. At the age of 16, Hernandez moved to Mexico to begin his career as a professional musician. There he held positions in the Aguascalientes Symphony Orchestra, the Queretaro Philharmonic, and most recently the OFUNAM Philharmonic (at the Autonomous National University of Mexico), where he also performed as soloist on several occasions. Hernandez also honed his skills as a violin maker at the Luthier’s School of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Queretaro. Since then, Hernandez has placed his instruments in the hands of professional musicians across Mexico, including the concertmaster of OFUNAM and the concertmaster of the National Chamber Orchestra of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Angel Hernandez moved to the United States in 2006. He is currently making violins on commission for students and professionals in the area, and performs actively as a member of the Nashaway Piano Trio and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in Bangor, Maine.
