Loewi Lin, Cello

A founding member of A Far Cry, Taiwanese-Canadian cellist Loewi Lin grew up in the culinary hotspot of Ping-Tung; he moved to Calgary at the age of seven but occasionally makes it back to visit his grandparents. Loewi Lin started playing cello at age 11, but his original ambition was to be a doctor; as a high-school student he converted to music and has been a devout follower ever since. Lin attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, the University of Ottawa, and the New England Conservatory, where his mentors included Richard Aaron, Paul Marleyn, and Laurence Lesser. Lin has appeared at Carnegie Hall in the New York String Orchestra, at the Mannes Beethoven Institute, Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Taos Music School in New Mexico.
