Timothy Roberts, Cello

Cellist Timothy Roberts is an active chamber musician, teacher, and orchestral player, who tours nationally and internationally in addition to extensive appearances throughout New England. He is Founder and Artistic Director of Art of Music Chamber Players, which has given more than 100 concerts across New England with series in Boston, Brookline, Duxbury, Wellesley, and Canton, MA

Roberts has given many solo recital performances in Boston, Chicago, Florida, and the Washington, DC area, as well as the Salle Cortot in Paris with pianist Olivia Garnier.
In the summer of 2010, Roberts will be returning for his fourth year performing on both modern and baroque cello at the Carmel Bach Festival in Carmel, CA. Last fall he also performed on baroque cello the Bach B Minor Mass at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

Roberts has performed with the Boston Symphony, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra, Boston Ballet, many years with the Opera Company of Boston, and the New Hampshire Symphony, the Rhode Island Philharmonic,  Portland Symphony (Maine), the Florida Orchestra  (Tampa), and others. He has performed with the Smithsonian Chamber Players in New York and Washington, DC and recorded on Deutche Harmonia Mundi. He had also toured with Vienna Choir Boys as a member of the Brandenburg Ensemble, with Alea III for a month in Greece, and  the New England Ragtime Ensemble with Gunther Schuller. He has also performed a series of chamber music concerts in the Caribbean on the islands of St. Martin and St. Bart’s.

Broadcasts include WCVB TV Channel 5, WGBY Channel 44, WCRB FM radio and live performances on “Classics in the Morning,” “Morning Pro Musica,” and other programs on WGBH radio.

Tim Roberts received his Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory, Master of Music from Northwestern University, and pursued doctoral work at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He currently maintains a busy teaching schedule with more than 30 students in private studios in Hingham and Needham
