Yoon-Jung Yang, Voilin
Yoon-Jung Yang was born in Korea in 1985. She was admitted into the Curtis Institute in 2001 where she received a Bachelor of Music degree while studying with Aaron Rosand and Pamela Frank.
Ms. Yang has won awards from numerous competitions. She won Grand Prizes at the Music Journal Competition, the Sejong Competition, and First Prizes at the TBC Competition, Seoul Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Ewha Kyung Hyang Competition, as well as an award from the Pusan Times Competition. She recently won the Honors Ensemble Audition of the New England Conservatory of Music with her string quartet.
Her career includes performances both as a recitalist and solo performer, and she has performed concertos on numerous occasions with the Seoul Philharmonic and TBC Symphony orchestras, Gwa-Cheon Youth Orchestra, Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria. She has given numerous solo recitals and concerts at Kumho Art Hall, Camerata Hall, Seoul Arts Center, and Sejong Arts Center in Seoul, Korea.
Ms. Yang is further an active chamber musician, and has collaborated in concerts with some of the great artists of our time, including Atar Arrad, Boris Berman, Timothy Eddy, Ralph Kirshbaum, Natasha Brofsky, Paula Robinson, Seymour Lipkin, Richard Danielpour, and Mario Davidovsky.
Her summer festival experience is also extensive: she has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West, Ravinia Festival, and Yellow Barn Music Festival.
Ms. Yang continues her education at the New England Conservatory of Music where she studies with the noted violinist Miriam Fried. She received her Master of Music degree in 2009 and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Music degree at NECM.
